Again, here are the three that I picked out:
L-R: Sutton Place Peach, Park Ave Plum, Outside Cafe
Sutton Place Peach
Park Ave Plum
Outside Cafe
And here is a quick swatch:
L-R: Sutton Place Peach, Park Ave Plum, Outside Cafe
As you can see, these swatched rather sheer and with little pigmentation. When using them, I really had to swirl my brush into the color to get enough on my cheeks. I had hoped for better color payoff, especially with Outside Cafe because it looked so pretty.Upon usage, Outside Cafe is definitely a hi-light color. The shimmer in it makes it hard to wear alone for me. I like more of a flush than looking like a disco ball.
Park Avenue Plum is not really plum at all but a muted dusty pink. This one is in a matte finish and doesn't really show up on me. Maybe fairer girls will do better with this blush.
Lastly Sutton Place Peach leans more towards an orange/coral color. This is also in a matte finish. Not a color that I usually gravitate towards when it comes to blushes but for $1, what the heck.
Final thoughts?
Pros:
- Affordable
- Variety of finishes available
Cons:
- Not pigmented enough
Repurchase? No. I think that as far as pigmentation, there are better drugstore brands that far outdo NYC blushes. These were great to try at just $1 a piece though.
Best,
Thanks for the swatches! What are some of your favorite drugstore blushes Cherrie? I just went to CVS today and was amazed at the average cost of a blush... I think I'm going to stock up on Jordana and NYX the next time they have a sale on cherryculture
ReplyDeleteLisa- I actually don't really have a favorite blush. I collect a variety of them but I often just use one at a time. My favorite high-end brand would prob be Nars but as far as drugstore I am not faithful to any particular brand. What's your favorite?
ReplyDeleteoh gosh! i hated these blushes! no pigment and they feel so CHALKY in texture. Definitely wasn't a favorite of mine...! But their other line of Mosaic Color Wheel Blushes were way better quality and had a decent amount of pigmentation without the chalky feel. Though i mean you get what you pay for! Nice review by the way!
ReplyDeleteI know, they are pretty much crap. :)
