Urban Decay-Lash Primer Potion

Hello friends.  Here is the review of the Urban Decay Eyelash Primer Potion that I promised.

I ordered this last month when Urban Decay had their Friends & Family sale.  I have been wearing primer underneath my mascara for as long as I can remember.  I find that it helps add that extra oomph for me, especially when I am just donning mascara for school and work and forgoing the falsies.

I was intrigued when I took out the wand and noticed the little fibers in the formula.  I have never tried a mascara with fibers before but have heard and read about them.   You can see the fibers in the wand below:

I was a tad worried about the fibers only because I am a contact lens wearer and had read about some people who had experienced irritation because of them.  Luckily, I had no problems with this primer potion.  See what Urban Decay has to say about the fibers in their primer:

The primer is white as you can see, and it does tint your lashes white once applied on the lashes.

When I'm doing my morning makeup routine, I apply this primer to both eyes and then move on to blush while I wait for it to dry.  Then I go back and do two coats of mascara.

(I always comb through my lashes with a lash comb after apply mascara to get rid of clumps.)  My lashes would be stick straight and skinny without this extra step.  I don't think that I would ever go back and just use only mascara.

As you can see, they need all of the extra length and volume they can get.

Final thoughts

Pros:

•  Fibers help extend lashes 

• Wand is small enough to get into corners and small lashes

•   Cute & sturdy packaging

Cons:

• White wand will gets dirty quite easily
• Expensive at $20

Repurchase? Sure.  I am having lots of fun using it and it doesn't irritate my eyes at all.  What do you think about primers under mascara?  Do you need this extra step?

Elf $1 Eye Primer Review

This product was purchased at Target for $1.  I did not like the stick primer that I had purchased for $3 from Elf, but I wanted to try the liquid primer.  See that review here.

Compared to that stick primer, this one is sooo much better.  This eye primer comes in a tube and can be applied with a doe foot applicator.  I thought that the formula was a little too wet at first, but when I blended it out with my finger it absorbed beautifully into the skin.  I applied shadow over it and wore it all day without any creasing or budging.  Love!

So compared to my Urban Decay Primer Potion, the Elf Primer does not contain as much product.  The Elf Primer contains .17 oz while Urban Decay Primer holds .34 oz of formula.  Other than that, the price difference is what gets me.  I love my UDPP but don't love the price. (UDPP retails for around $18)  I also have not had to depot it yet, but have heard that it dries up very quickly when depotted.  Whereas, the Elf product is cheap and works just as well as UDPP in my personal opinion. And if I do have to depot the Elf product, I don't feel as bad if it dries up because it was only $1.

The color on these are also different, UDPP is lighter in color whereas Elf has more yellow undertones.  But, when blended onto the lids, it doesn't make a huge difference to me.  

I will definitely have to go back and pick up more of these $1 primers as backups because they work so well and are budget friendly.  I would recommend this product to beginners who are looking for a primer to add to their collection.  Elf eye primer is a great find and great buy.

Elf Eye Primer & Liner Sealer Review

This Elf Eye Primer purchased by myself for $3 at Kmart.  I picked it up because I was curious about the eye primer but really didn't have a need for the liner sealer.  Actually, I wasn't even sure what a liner sealer was. lol. 

I have really oily lids and eye shadows crease on me like crazy if I don't wear any primer underneath.  I jumped on the bandwagon and purchased Urban Decay's Primer Potion while I was in Sephora's to try over a year ago.  I now wear UDPP on a regular basis and found that this formula does wonders for me.  I can wear shadows all day now with NO creasing.  So at around $18 bucks a pop, I was wondering if I could find a cheaper alternative to UDPP, especially because I would have to make a special trip out of town to pick up more if I ran out.

This Elf duo is double ended with the liner sealer at one end and the primer at the other end.

The eye primer came in a stick form and looks a bit like concealer.  I had a hard time with the application.  I tried applying it to my eye lid and there was a lot of tugging and unevenness.  I had to blend the formula out with my fingers to get an even application.  It has the consistency of a concealer.  I did not notice any creasing with this formula though after one day of wear with eye shadow.

I would much rather prefer my UDPP over this Elf formula.  I really have not used it since I took pictures for this post.  I might reach for this primer if I needed a concealer with more yellow undertones, but other than that it's been sitting in my traincase untouched.

I looked at the packaging to read how to use the liner sealer.  This clear formula is applied over any eye liner on your lids to prevent smudging and creasing.  I rarely have any problem with my liquid liners smudging and creasing, but I can see how it might be useful when I want to wear falsies. I do wear pencil liners once in a while but I like to smudge them out anyways, so I would not use this liner sealer with my eye pencils.  

Overall, I really have no real use for this product.  I thought that I might like the primer for my eyes but I am just not a fan of the formula and way of application.
