Fimo Art

I have had acrylic nails for about six years and just only recently took them all off.  My nails were so brittle and damaged that I wasn't sure how to get them healthy again.  I have gone through an entire bottle of SinfulColors Nail Hardener ($1.99) to protect my nails.  In the meantime, I have been experimenting with nail art and different techniques.
I really like the look of fimo nails, but they can be kind of tricky to wear.  I bought these fimo canes from Ebay for $1 plus shipping.
These canes are made from clay and are about 2 1/2 inches long.  To use them, take a sharp razor blade and cut them into thin slices.  To place them on your nails, just dot a small amount of clear polish on your nails and position them into place with a pair of tweezers.  Brush on two coats of clear polish over your designs to seal them in.

I hope these give you some inspiration.  I will post up more pictures soon!

Happy experimenting,

  1. OMG I LOOOOOVE the fruit ones!! Question - what clearish glitter polish do you use for the nail bed?

  2. Hi Annette! Thanks for reading and commenting! If I remember correctly I used 1 coat of NYC Love letters and 1 coat of Wet n Wild Wild Shine Kaleidescope. Are you going to try it? Lmk! I would love to see!

  3. Aww, your nails look so cute!! Those fimo canes look fun. :D I haven't used them before, but now I'll check them out. ^^
