Urban Decay- My Goodies

I finally received my Urban Decay products that I ordered online today.  Yay!  ^_^ 

I had ordered a bunch of pigments for only $1 each.  I had thought that I would be getting a little pigment jar, but no- these are pretty hefty and store a good amount of product!  I have it pictured next to my mascara so you can compare the sizes.

No swatches yet, sorry.  Soon.  I have a lot that I want to say about these, so I will do a more in depth review on them in a separate post.

Also picked up one matte eye shadow.  I am not really a fan of matte shadows, but I thought that this one would be nice to add to my collection.  And it's purple.  My favorite color. :)

And I also got one tinted moisturizer for $6.  I picked out the shade Bullet Proof.

I swatched this and it looks like it might be a little too dark for me.  I am kicking myself now for not ordering another one in a different shade. *smacks forehead*

Revlon Top Speed Polish- Ocean

I can't believe that I have never noticed this shade before in the Top Speed collection.  It's gorgeous!  This is Ocean, a duochrome polish.  This polish flashes from aqua, to dark blue to green.  Gahh!  So pretty.  Most of the Top Speed polishes are creme finishes so this one really stood out in the display.  It reminded me of mermaids and fish scales.  

Most of you know that I have a love-hate relationship with Revlon polishes.   This one teeters somewhere right in the middle.  The formula was a nightmare to apply.  I found it very runny- even when I had wiped off most of the color off the top, color from the top of the handle would run down and want to join the party.  (This mostly happened when I had to put the brush back into the bottle while I waited for one coat to dry.)  If I wiped off too much of the color- it would drag across my nails and create an uneven mess- i.e. pointer finger.  I tried to layer on a coat of Seche Vite to counter the unevenness in application on my pointer finger, but alas, this could not be fixed.

I also hate it when I see brush strokes on my nails, which is why I tend to stay away from frosty polishes.  You can see them if you put your face right up to my nails- trust me, it's there.  I hate that.  Also, bubbling.  *sigh*  Yes, those tiny little suckers started even before the polish was dry.  Thank goodness for Seche Vite.

 Anyways, pictured here is two coats.  I had to do three coats on my right hand though because of the bald spots.  

In all, a lovely color combination.  I adore it.  But formula has got to go.  Thus, my love-hate relationship with Revlon polishes continues.  By the way- Walgreens has Revlon products 40% off this week, which is why I picked up this polish in the first place.

Tease Me

Hello loves.  Today I am showing you my new Conair teasing brush.  This was bought at Target for around $6.  I bought this because I had seen a similar one while I was at Ulta, but it was ridiculously priced.  

Let me just say here that my hair does not respond well to teasing.  I can't blame it on my technique either because when I go get it done by someone else or at the salon, it doesn't work either.  My hair is just so thick and heavy that it just weighs down whatever height was achieved by teasing it.  So, much to my dismay, I had just kind of given up on the sex kitten, just rolled out of bed look.  *sigh* 

But then I had high hopes again when I saw this.  This brush is made with 100% boar bristles which hopefully will get down and dirty with my hair.  I like how there are three rows of bristles on the brush so that it kind of 'attacks' my hair at different levels.  lol. 

Hopefully, I will no longer watch Youtube videos with insane jealousy when I see girls tease their hair with such ease.  Thank you, Conair.

Some Bubbly...

I got this nail polish when it was on sale for only .99 cents at Charlotte Russe.  These polishes usually retail for $3.50.  I normally wouldn't buy because of the small packaging and the price tag, but for .99 cents I picked out one color. I got the color Champagne, a shimmery taupe color.

Here it is on my nails.  This is three coats and topped off with one coat of Seche Vite.  

I could have gotten away with just two coats for opacity, but I layered on one more coat just to see how it would look like.  But- dry time was horrible.  Even after one coat of Seche Vite, I still managed to smudge my nails.  ugh.  I went grocery shopping and noticed that my thumb nail was already chipped.  I ended up taking this color off by the end of the day.

In all, a very pretty color but dry time and chipping after only a few hours of application is just unacceptable in my book.  :(

Sweet as Candy- FOTD

Hello everyone!  So, here is my look of the day using my Wet 'n Wild ColorIcon trio in Sweet as Candy.  This palette is similar to Walking on Eggshells, but the brown crease color is not as deep and the pink in this palette is much more frosty. 

To create this eye look, I used all of the colors in the way that the tutorial suggests on the back of the package.  The frosty, cotton candy pink was my all over lid color, the brown color was my crease and outer v and the white shimmery color was my brow highlight.

I found this palette easy to work with and the colors very pigmented.  There was no fall out from using this and each color blends very nicely into the next.

I added my Sonia Kashuk lashes to complete this look.  I am really liking these WnW trios so far as they really deliver and for a not so hefty price tag.  Here is a close up of the look.  Sorry about the quality, it was ridiculously cloudy when I decided to photograph.

Sweet as Candy trio offers a different look than Walking on Eggshells even though the colors from both trios are in the same family.  I think that this trio offers a more fun look because the pink is more frosty.  Overall, I really like this trio and I would reach for it on the weekends when I want to go out.

Leaving you Spellbound...

I had blogged about this CoverGirl lipstick here and have just fallen in love with this color.  It is soo pretty and it makes me feel instantly sexier just swiping it on.

This lipstick inspired me to do a pin-up look for a weekend festivity I had to attend with the hub.  Here is what I did with my makeup.

What I used:

Face:  Bare Minerals & Sephora loose mineral powder

Cheeks:  Maybelline FitMe blush in Medium Pink

Eyes:  Wet 'n Wild ColorIcon trio in Walking on Eggshells

Lashes:  Forever21

Liquid Liner:  WnW MegaLiner in black

Lips:  CG Outlast Lipstick in Spellbound

I did use a lip liner (Jordana Easy Liner in Baby Berry) underneath this but I was so happy that this color lasted all day and I didn't have any smudging or feathering or bleeding.  Just plain perfection in a tube.  :)

What I wore:  White lace tank from Charlotte Russe, sheer Leopard print top with ruffles from Burlington Coat Factory, black slacks from Kohls & black platform pumps from Amiclubwear.

Overall, just bright lips with a neutral eye and dark winged liner as my statement piece.  So effortless but still so dramatic.  Love this look!  What is your favorite bright lip color?
