Barielle-Expressive

Hi dolls.  Here is what I am wearing on my nails today: 

This is the last color from the Barielle collection that I had picked up from TJ Maxx.  This lavender creme is aptly named Expressive. 

I am wearing two coats for these photos, topped off with one coat of Seche Vite.  Easy polish to work with, no bubbling, streaking or balding.

L'Oreal-Colour Riche Lipstick in Fairest Nude

Hello dolls.  Here is a new lipstick that I picked up this month:

This is from L'Oreal's Colour Riche line in Fairest Nude.  This is a permanent color from their collection, so you should be able to find it anywhere.  It retails from $6 to $8 depending on where you go.

Fairest Nude is one of those lip colors that I keep hearing about, but I never got the hype.  It was just another nude lipstick to me-and trust me, I really do not need another nude lipstick.  But-when the opportunity arose, I did pick it up out of curiousity.   

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of the Colour Riche line because of the smell.  It's got this cheap,  plastic, overly-scented lipstick smell that is just a tad too much for my taste.  If you've ever tried a lipstick from this range, you'll know what I'm talking about.  If not, take a whiff of one next time you're in the drugstore.

But, the smell was the only thing that I could really complain about.  On my lips, I absolutely loved it.  Could it be?  The end of my HG nude lipstick search?  I think it might...

It's just got the right amount of pink it in for me to pull it off and it doesn't wash me out.  I love how it looks paired with a smokey eye, but it's simple enough to match any look that I want to do.  It's also very creamy and pigmented and doesn't sit in the cracks of my lips.  I have been wearing it pretty much non-stop this month!

Jelly Sandwich

Hey dolls.  I hope you all had a good Valentine's Day.  Here is what I am wearing today on my nails:

This is a fun jelly sandwich that I did because I was sad that I couldn't find the China Glaze Cirque de Soleil polish in It's a Trap-eze anywhere in my area.  By the time I got there, they were already all gone.  :( 

This certainly isn't the same, but it has almost the same effect.  I love how bright and fun it is!  It almost looks like those giant jawbreakers I had as a kid.  

I used Essie's Marshmallow and a no name glitter polish from Forever21 to create this look.  Marshmallow has already been featured on my blog-but it's so unique in my collection.  If you're looking for a white jelly polish-Marshmallow is the way to go!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi dolls!  Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours!  Today is not only Valentine's Day, it's also my husband's birthday, so I created this super sexy, smokey eye.

I used my Naked Basics palette to create this look, using five of the six colors.

I used Naked2, Faint, Crave and Foxy as my highlight color, then added my usual false lashes from Sonia Kashuk.  I used Venus as my inner corner color.

I really liked this look, especially because I tend to shy away from black.  I just need to get more comfortable with it.  Anyways, I just wanted a gradient effect for this look-which I think I did okay on.  (I have been a little out of practice.)

To complete the look, I just added my L'Oreal lipstick in Fairest Nude and stuck to peachy cheeks to play up my eyes.  

Unfortunately, I don't have a hot date tonight with the hub.  He has a night class until 9 pm, and I  teach in the morning.  We are saving the date for Saturday night, because Saturday is our 9th wedding anniversary anyways.  He did send me a beautiful bouquet of roses at work today though.  :)

Essie-She's Pampered

Hey dolls.  I got a new polish from Essie to show you guys today.  Well, new to me, anyways.  This lovely red creme is She's Pampered, from the Leading Lady collection.

This color was released pretty recently if I remember correctly, so I was surprised to see it show up at TJ Maxx already for just $4.

This was an easy two coater, topped of with one coat of Seche Vite.  I do adore red nails, simple and at it's best, just in time for Valentine's Day.

Remington Hot Rollers-Pearl Editon

Hey dolls.  Today I wanted to review this hot rollers set that I picked up earlier this month.  I got this set from Remington on clearance for just $10 at Target and was so excited because I really wanted to try hot rollers in general.  Yes, I am a hot roller virgin.  :)

Anyways,  this set is limited edition, so I don't think that you can specific set anymore but I'm still going to review it and give you my thoughts as a first time hot roller user.

When you take it out of the packaging, this is what you get:

There are twenty hot rollers included, three rows of bigger rollers and two rows of smaller rollers.  At first, I was thinking that this would not be enough to do all of my hair, but I was wrong!  More on that later.  

The 'pearl' part of the packaging is just the off white clips, which aren't even really of pearl consistency.  They're just regular, plastic clips.  It does claim to have real pearl in the 'ceramic' formula, whatever that means.  The rollers have a velvet texture surrounding them and a notch which lets it sit nicely on the heated metal bar.  

 

The packaging claims that these rollers heat up in just 90 seconds and that they only take five minutes to set your curls.  I can attest to that, that these do in fact, heat up rather quickly.  

It was pretty easy to use, I just plugged it into the wall and let it heat up.  I was a little worried that it might get too hot though, because there is no heat setting.  The packaging also shows a little warning, because the clips and the edges of the rollers can get a very hot if you're not careful.  I just tested the roller with my fingers to see, but they were okay-not too hot to handle by any means.

I wasn't sure which way to start rolling, but I sectioned my hair off and started with my lower layers first.  I rolled inwards -if that makes any sense-all the way around my head in one inch sections and then did the hair around my crown.  

After getting all of the clips in, I was surprised that I only used up the three rows of the larger rollers!  I was just expecting to have to use all of them because my hair is so thick and long.  

After I had all of the curls in, I let it sit for about five minutes and then took everything out.  I was worried that the left side of my hair would be curlier than the right side of my hair because I had started on that side first.  lol.  But, it didn't turn out too bad actually.  See pictures below:

These were very voluminous curls, and they set pretty well.  I had to run into my other job and did a four hour shift after I did this little experiment and the curls held up very well.  I didn't put in any hairspray, and never do in fact when I curl my hair, because I don't like the texture. 

One thing that I did notice was that where I had put in the clips to hold the rollers in, there was a noticeable dent in my hair there.  But once I combed out the curls with my fingers, and let it sit for a while, I didn't really notice the dents anymore.

Overall, this product exceeded my expectations.  As a first time user of hot rollers, it was easy to use and it gave me great results.  I only spent about 10 minutes putting in all of the hot rollers, and the curls last me pretty much all day.  I would say that I prefer to use this method over curling my hair at the moment because it is so easy to use.  I can put my hair up and do my makeup as I wait for it to set instead of doing one and then the other as I regularly do.
