Urban Decay-Naked Basics Palette

Hi dolls.  I finally picked up the new Urban Decay Basics palette this week.  It's been on my wish list ever since it came out, just because I don't have any really good neutral shadows in my collection.  I also love Urban Decay products-they have never let me down when it comes to shadows.

I'm sure that you have already seen pictures and posts of this palette but I wanted to share my own two cents on it.

First of all, this palette comes with six shadows, two of which are repeats.  Foxy is already a color in the Naked2 palette and WOS (Walk of Shame) is a single shadow that can be purchased from the line.
You wouldn't expect less than the best when it comes to pigmentation and quality in Urban Decay shadows, and these colors are all superb.  Buttery smooth and finely milled, these are not the least bit powdery and feel utterly luxurious on your lids.

Some people have been calling this an all matte shadow palette, but Venus (the shade all the way to the left) has some sheen to it.  It is described as a satin on the packaging.  I don't mind that Venus is included in this palette though, because I think it makes a rather pretty highlight color, especially when you're already wearing all matte shadows on your eyes.
Others complain that Foxy and WOS are too similar in color on the skin.  I can see why, because when brushed and blended out, they do sheer out someIn my swatches though, you can see that WOS has just a touch more pink to it than Foxy does.  These two colors also might not show up on fairer skin tones just because they are so light.

Crave is definitely a new favorite.  I loved how intense it swatched.  I can never find a true matte black shadow and Crave just fits the bill to a tee.
I also like how compact this product is, it fits nicely into the palm of your hand!  That makes it nice for travel or putting into your purse.  There is also a nice, big mirror included on the top when you flip it open for touch ups.
This palette is more affordable at just $27, so I didn't feel incredibly guilty when I picked it up.  It is a nice addition to the Naked range, especially if you are a fan of mattes.

I love Urban Decay products and this palette was not a disappointment.  I would recommend this to anyone who was looking for matte colors to add to their collection or to anyone is a fan of neutrals for that matter.

On a side note, I am eyeing up the new Wizard of Oz palettes that have just been released!  Are you?!

Wet 'n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color- Pocketful of Roses

Hi dolls.  I saw a new display of Wet 'n Wild products, and picked up one of the new Megalast glosses to show you all.  I picked out #928A, in Pocket of Roses.
I think that these retail for $2.99 each, but let me know if I'm wrong.  In fact, some of these had peel off coupons for $1 off in the display, so if you want to try these, make sure you reach for one with a peelie.  Pocket of Roses is a pink gloss with silver shimmer mixed in.  It looks very pretty in the tube, but on my lips, I was not a fan.

The doe foot applicator had an appropriate amount of product, and it was easy to apply.  A tad thicker than I expected, but it dried and set fairly quick.
This is just one coat on my lips shown.  Let me just say, I was not into it.  First of all, this color turned up extremely frosty on me.  NOT cool.  I didn't expect all of that shimmer to do that and leave me with grandma lips.  No thanks.

Also, the formula left something to be desired.  See how it accentuates all of my lines and cracks?  Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate if you use this.  It also doesn't feel very good on...very, very dry.  In fact, I didn't even wear it.  I swatched it on my lips, took photos and immediately took it off because I just didn't like it.

Removal was pretty easy for me because I just applied and then wiped off-but I expect that if you leave this on a while, you would probably have to use an oil based makeup remover to take it off.  I also don't see how you could reapply this color as the day wears on, because it kind of 'chips' away off the lips.  If you reapplied-you would have lots of uneveness.  (I experienced the 'chipping' when I was removing the lip color off of me and had to really work at it to scrub it off because I just used a makeup wipe.)

This liquid lipstick did not deter me from wanting to try the red one from this line, but overall, I would not recommend this particular lip color.  Stay away from Pocketful of Roses.  Stay.  Away.

Have you seen these pop up in your area yet?

Maybelline Color Whispers-Pinup Peach & Who Wore it Red-er

Hello dolls.  I picked up two more of the Maybelline Color Whispers this last weekend! I know, I know...I have no self control...
This time around I picked out Pinup Peach and Who Wore it Red-er.  Pinup Peach is a great color that I think looks good on everyone, while Who Wore it Red-er seems like a great wash of color on the lips, especially as the warmer weather rolls around!

Pinup Peach
Who Wore it Red-er
I'm not going to review them in this post, as I have already done so here.  These are a great addition to your collection though, if you are a fan of Revlon Lip Butters or the L'Oreal Colour Riche Balms.

Swatches:
Pinup Peach:
Who Wore it Red-er:
Pinup Peach immediately found a niche in my daily makeup routine.  It's a beautiful mlbb color and adds just the right amount of shine, while Who Wore it Red-er leaves my lips with a just-sucked-on-a-popsicle colorOf the two though, I would say the must try color would be Pinup Peach.

I wouldn't doubt it if I came back on here with another two from the collection.  I just can't help myself.  lol.  Have you tried these yet?

January-Running on Empty

Hello dolls.  Here is January's edition of Running on Empty!  This month I ran out of 15 items.
First up, the makeup that I went through...

L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm in Nourishing Nude
I picked this up with a coupon, even though I'm not really a fan of this line.  I think that they are very pretty and the packaging is nice, but the wear time is just not for me.  The formula just has too much slip for me and they don't last long enough on my lips.  The only reason that I ran out of it is because I left it in my car to use as a lip balm.

Repurchase?  No.

Wet 'n Wild MegaLiner in Dark Brown
If you have been following me for a while, you will know that these are my favorite liquid liners.

Repurchase?  Yes.

Wet 'n Wild Megalash Mascara
I got this in a set last year, but never really used this mascara dutifully.  It has since dried up and is now unusable.

Repurchase?  No.

 Sephora Mineral Powder in Tan
I got this powder on sale from Sephora for just $5.  I am not sure if they are still available, maybe in just different packaging?  I really like this though for contouring.  It's matte and doesn't make me look too orange.

Repurchase?  I have one backup of this powder, but I haven't broken it out yet.  I decided to shop my stash to see what I have and what I can use up.

Lip Smacker in Banana
I got this cheap lip balm at the Dollar Store and it smells bomb you guys.  It smells like banana candy!  SO yummy.  I kept this in my daily makeup bag and use it every morning.

Repurchase?  Yes.

CoverGirl Shadow Single in Mink
Again, another staple in my stash.

Repurchase?  Yes, and I have several backups of these in my stash.

TheBalm Cucumber Face Toner
I love this toner!  I got this in a set from TJ Maxx last holiday season on clearance and have been using it pretty much all summer, fall and winter long.  It doesn't sting and it's not harsh on my skin.  It just leaves a very clean feeling and doesn't dry out my face.

Repurchase?   I wish that I could purchase this again locally.  :(  If I do run across it again I will definitely pick it up!

Epielle Makeup Wipes
I ran out of two this month because one was in my travel bag.  These are another everyday staple in my life.

Repurchase?  Yes!  I am actually getting anxious because I need to stock up on these.  I'm down to my last three packages in my stash!

Dollar Tree Makeup Remover Wipes
I got these from the Dollar Tree to use when I'm swatching products for the blog.  They don't work very well though.

Repurchase?  Eh, maybe.  I'm thinking of just getting diaper wipes next though.

Orly Nail Armor
I absolutely love this stuff.  You may have noticed that my nails have gotten very long.  I think that it's mostly due to this polish. This formula has real silk fibers in it to help strengthen your nails! I use it as a base coat under all of my manicures, which is probably why I ran out of it so fast.  It also dries very quickly, which is good because I am very impatient.

Repurchase?  Yes!  I have to run back to Sally's and get some.

Up & Up Nail Polish Remover
Cheap and does the job.  Just wish it came in gallon size.  lol.

Repurchase?  Yup.

Organix Acai Berry Avocado Conditioner
This stuff smells so yummy.  I bought this at Ulta on sale.  I just wish that this had a pump on it though because as it got down to the bottle, it was harder to squeeze out.

Repurchase?  I might, but I like the Brazilian one just a bit more.

Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Shampoo & Conditioner (sample)
I think that this sample came in one of my Target beauty bags.  Again, I need to clean out my sample drawer and I'm trying to whittle away at it.  This shampoo claims to have a biodegradable formula and is supposed to be better for the environment.  However, I am not a fan of how it smells and how it cleans.  It must not have any fragrance in it because all I smelt was chemicals when I washed my hair.  Also, I didn't notice any real difference in my hair.

Repurchase?  Probably not.

Pure Silk Shave Cream
Cheap and gets the job done.  Foams nicely and smells good.  Also, doesn't strip my skin of any extra moisture.  Just not a fan of the metal can because of the rust circle in my shower.

Repurchase?   Yeah.

15 items total.  Not bad to start off the year with.  What did you run out of this month?

Love,
